Mediterranean Landscape Integration: Project Overview
The topography of this garden inherently defined its character. The terrain descends in natural slopes, forming a small ravine that connects the residence with the surrounding Mediterranean landscape. Rather than altering the elevations, the design respects and utilizes them as the foundational structural element.
Structural Design & Topography
The garden was developed along this natural incline using rockeries and plant masses to stabilize the soil and mirror the land’s original contour. Stone elements structure the space, allowing vegetation to integrate organically as if it had always been part of the site.
Botanical Selection
The planting scheme focuses on architectural form and environmental resilience:
- Architectural Anchors: Strelitzia nicolai provides verticality and a sculptural presence, while Cycas revoluta introduces an elegant, structural rhythm.
- Resilient Groundcover: The slope is softened and stabilized by high-resistance species, including:
- Agapanthus africanus
- Chlorophytum comosum
- Tradescantia zebrina
- Asparagus densiflorus
Result
The final outcome is a garden that follows, respects, and enhances the natural terrain. It integrates seamlessly with the Mallorca landscape, achieving an equilibrium between aesthetic impact and sustainable, low-maintenance management.
