Sa Cabaneta Garden

This project transforms a longitudinal plot into a contemporary Mediterranean garden conceived as a sequence of connected settings linked by an organic natural stone path. The journey invites visitors to discover different landscape scenes, alternating open spaces for family enjoyment with more intimate corners for rest and contemplation.

The proposal provides year-round interest through a combination of textures, seasonal flowering and chromatic contrasts. Selected trees bring verticality and visual presence from inside the residence, while planting masses create depth, movement and a sense of immersion in nature. Each garden margin fulfils a specific function, evolving from an open, versatile area near the house to a more natural and enveloping setting at the back of the plot.

The first zone is conceived as a wide, functional space for family gatherings and outdoor activities. A Grevillea robusta — a fast-growing tree with spectacular orange flowering — creates a focal point visible from the residence and provides pleasant shade over time. The ground is covered with Lippia nodiflora, a sustainable low-water alternative to traditional lawn, connected to the rest of the garden by a natural stone path.

The second zone forms the ornamental heart of the project — a space for contemplation where vegetation envelops the path and generates a relaxing atmosphere rich in colour, movement and biodiversity. The flowering masses combine Lavandula dentata, Perovskia atriplicifolia, Limonium perezii, Stachys byzantina, white Rosa 'Iceberg', Pennisetum alopecuroides and Teucrium fruticans, complemented by Arbutus unedo and Prunus cerasifera var. pissardii for seasonal colour and chromatic contrasts. A strategically placed bench invites visitors to pause and enjoy this immersive landscape.

The final zone adopts a more naturalistic character, where ornamental grasses and flowering plants create a light, dynamic image. Stipa tenuissima, Muhlenbergia capillaris and Gaura lindheimeri move with the breeze and produce ethereal flowering clouds — an elegant natural closure where plant textures, light and movement become the true protagonists.
